Divya Jyoti Disabled Development Society in Varanasi
In the autum of 2005 I visited India on a journey that would take me to discover few schools and NGOs in an attempt to tour the northern part of the subcontinent down to Pune…
In one of my last stops, I remet my friend Ute who had been living there for the last years and had a great time helping them to prepare candles for their five days Diwali celebration. When I got there I didn´t expect that besides the fact that they were just a modest school they got already few volunteers helping for those days. I liked the vibe, the spirit of community that they had created and the dedication that every single one was putting into it. Over the course of those days, Ute took us around Varanasi and showed us the magic of that incredible forgotten part of India.
Like in all my travels, I went there again with no expectations, open to discover and get impregnated with the local wisdom and savoir faire of its people and their lifes… trying to understand and discover that invisible thread that unites us all. Like all the unplanned ventures… it turn out to be a heart nourishing experience.
